Who steers what at Flanders Circular?
The Bio-economy strategic agenda aims to build the strategic basis that helps realise the potential of the Flemish bio-economy. The growth of a sustainable bio-economy can have a major positive impact on our economy and our living environment. The ultimate goal of the Bio-economy strategic agenda is to ensure that the bio-economy can occupy this role and place.
By 2050, a significant part of the Flemish economy and industrial production in particular should be bio-based. Currently, this is only the case for a small portion. By using biological material innovatively, and by valorising organic residual and by-product streams in a specialised way, new industrial production is possible. To do so, we need to both revalue existing by-product streams and develop new production methods. This implies working on new crops, breeding methods and new harvesting and collection circuits for plant and animal biomass.
