YEAFA

Yeast for the future

From a by-product of breweries to a high-value feed product: at YEAFA, they have found the key to circular treats for livestock, pets and aquaculture. At their state-of-the-art plant in Ostend, they extract dry brewer's yeast from beer residue streams. This promotes animal health and immunity, making it a particularly suitable ingredient. Double the flavour!

Did you know that dry beer yeast is an essential ingredient in the diets of young piglets, laying hens, ruminants, horses and rabbits? That it is an appetising supplement in your pets' diet? And that it positively affects the health, immunity and growth of fish?

Using an innovative process, with minimal environmental footprint, YEAFA transforms liquid brewer's yeast into a high-quality spray-dried yeast powder. Brewer's yeast possesses a very high crude protein content, making it particularly suitable for animal feed, pet food and aquaculture. Brewer's yeast also has a neutral, pleasant taste, so animals like it too!

The yeast production plant is built exclusively for the extraction of brewer's yeast. The factory runs entirely on residual heat supplied by a neighbouring company. In this way, YEAFA recovers energy that would otherwise go to waste. This green vision also translates into the choice of location: formerly a polluted brownfield plot, now a visionary site. Since the only activity of the plant is the extraction of dry beer yeast, YEAFA can also guarantee consistent product quality and traceability.
