Who steers what at Flanders Circular?
Bicycle helmets protect lives, but are themselves often a disposable product. Belgian brand Lazer developed their first bicycle helmet with circular design with the Verde KinetiCore.
Ecological bicycle footprint.
Bicycle products often have a significant impact on the environment. This runs counter to the motivations of many cyclists, who seek to reduce their ecological footprint just by taking to the bike. With the Verde KinetiCore, Lazer, part of Shimano, developed their first bicycle helmet with circular design.
Recycled CDs
The helmet is constructed from a limited number of parts without sacrificing safety. At least 70% of its weight consists of recycled materials, such as recycled CDs (perfect for those who don't know where to go with their old collection!).
The helmet is also completely recyclable. Thanks to the advanced EcoLoc system and because no glue was used, you can easily disassemble the helmet yourself at the end of its life. Just unlock the EcoLoc, find the stamps on the different materials and sort everything correctly.
The design received the Henry van de Velde Ecodesign Award in 2024.
