Who steers what at Flanders Circular?
A baby and game library, an instrument library, a repair café, bicycle repair workshop and much more: you will find it all in the Share Factory in Kortrijk. At the initiative of the municipality, the old fire station was transformed into a meeting place where people exchange, share, reuse and repair to their heart's content. And all under one roof!
The site of the old fire station in Kortrijk (accounting for 3,531 m2) was transformed into Share Factory Kortrijk: the base for 17 civic and urban projects, which aims to motivate everyone to exchange, share or repair more material instead of buying. Numerous activities are also organized and every working day you can enjoy lunch in brasserie Mini-VORK.
A lending service for children's games, a bicycle kitchen, Swap & Go clothing, a climbing club, neighborhood meeting rooms, spaces for audiobook recordings: every nook and cranny of the Share Factory puts sharing and meeting at the center. For example, you can bring unused equipment and swap it for something new, you can share items you only need occasionally with each other, or you can repair your own equipment.
By redistributing surplus food and diapers in partnership with De Vaart, Poezewoef and the Pamper Bank, the Delphi Factory is also committed to poverty alleviation. Let's be clear: everything is about commitment and cooperation. The team also consists solely of volunteers and apprentices. This allows everyone to have a place in a social community, where meeting and sharing is more important than buying.
