Recup Design are social-ecological furniture manufacturers who work with reusable timber obtained from private individuals, building companies, stand-erectors, etc. Wood that would otherwise end up in the waste incinerator is given a second life by Recup Design. Scaffolding planks, for example, are converted into a library cabinet, an old squash-court floor is transformed into a dining room table, a scrapped terrace floor becomes a new summer house... All this involves customisation, entirely according to the customer’s wishes.
The employees of Recup Design are mostly people who would have little prospect of finding work in the regular jobs market.
