About our management
Who steers what at Flanders Circular?
Derbigum is giving new life to old roofs. With their No Roof To Waste commitment, the Belgian manufacturer of sustainable roofing membranes is proving that circularity is not a thing of the future, but already a reality today.
Circular building materials
Since 1990, Derbigum has been at the forefront of roof recycling. They reuse old roofing materials in new membranes, which in turn are 100% recyclable. This is how they create circular building materials, such as Derbigum NT, that stay in the cycle and avoid unnecessary waste. For that circular approach, Derbigum won Cradle to Cradle Bronze certification.
Derbigum's recycling cycle
How exactly does their recycling cycle work? First, cuttings and old membranes are collected and sorted. Then they undergo a triple grinding process and a purification step, which releases a new raw material: Derbitumen. This is how Derbigum once again produces high-quality and durable roofing membranes. Quality comes first: the entire process is carried out according to an ATG-certified system, which guarantees reliable and safe products.
Novitumen®: 100% recycled membranes
In early 2025, Derbigum launched a new product: Novitumen®, roofing membranes made from 100% recycled bitumen. By incorporating only recycled material in its products, Derbigum significantly reduces its impact on raw materials, and makes endless reuse possible.
