Who steers what at Flanders Circular?
Hearth Project is a non-profit organisation that combats food waste. On the menu: surplus food processed into quality meals for people in a difficult situation. These social activities are co-financed by the gastronomic section: Entropy, a sustainable fine-dining restaurant in the heart of Brussels.
Raising awareness about food waste
Hearth Project aims to raise awareness about food waste and to give people in a difficult situation access to quality meals. The non-profit organisation collects unsold food from big players and processes it daily into nutritious meals with the help of volunteers. The meals are sold at low prices to associations and charities.
Haute cuisine with a social commitment
Hearth Project has been based in the heart of Brussels since 2022. Their hub houses workshops and a workshop for the production of meals. You will also find the gourmet vegetarian restaurant Entropy, which proves that haute cuisine and circularity go together perfectly. Zero waste is the starting point, even the leaves of vegetables are incorporated into the top dishes. The restaurant was named the Discovery of the Year in 2023 by Gault&Millau. Profits go to food donations.
