The project proposal ‘Circulair@Club’ (Circular@Club) by Neos (the network of entrepreneurial seniors) and Netwerk Bewust Verbruiken aims to further disseminate the principles of the circular economy. ‘Circular economy’ may sound like a rather abstract and unfamiliar concept to many citizens, particularly the older generation.
Therefore, Neos and Netwerk Bewust Verbruiken set out to find an easily accessible approach by setting up a custom, concrete and practical project in the sheltered and familiar setting of the Neos association. Neos has over 30,000 members spread across 209 clubs. This initiative shows the members they can integrate the principles of the circular economy in their daily activities, often through simple actions. A few examples are Repair Cafés, the bicycle sharing system ‘Op Wielekes’ and the project ‘Simplify life’ that encourages citizens to consider the utility and value of their belongings.
We hope the Neos members will thus become ambassadors of circular ideas and actions. This project should also serve as a source of inspiration for other clubs and civil society organisations.
