Since 2021, the UTECH Europe Awards has recognized achievements and innovations in the European polyurethane industry. In 2024, the Belgian Pure project may call itself a finalist of these prestigious Awards.
The PUre project is a collaboration between essenscia PolyMatters and 5 leading manufacturers of plastic insulation: Idelco, IKO, Recticel, Soprema and Unilin. The pilot project was born during the search by producers of PIR/PUR insulation boards for solutions to better recycle their products.
PUre offers contractors a simple solution to get rid of the cutting residues of the plastic (PIR/PUR) insulation boards on construction sites in the province of Antwerp. PUre selectively collects these offcuts and recycles them into high-quality raw materials. With this they produce new products such as insulating floor boards and pressed PU building boards.
Contractors can request free collection bags from a participating waste collector. They simply place the filled bags on top of the construction waste container and the collector will come and collect the container under the same conditions as before.
Contractors participating in this pilot project are helping to create the circular future for PIR/PUR insulation boards in insulating chapes or pressed boards.
